What is the point of the areola being a different color than your skin?

I'm really wanting to know, not trying to be sarcastic or silly. So please, no stupid answers. I'm curious as to why areolas and nipples are a different color than the rest of your skin.What is the point of the areola being a different color than your skin?
The point of the areola beign a different color than your skin is so that when a woman nurses, it is easier for the baby to find the nipple. I read about this in ';What to Expect When You're Expecting';. I hope this helps.What is the point of the areola being a different color than your skin?

It's just genetic. Possibly because newborns have poor eyesite and it makes it easier to to identify. That's just a guess.

Probably because they are not skin. Think about it your lips are a different color than your face, and no one ever ask why.
