Why are animals skinned alive? Can't they kill the animal first and then remove the skin?

Is it easier, or is it because of quality of fur being affected? or is it just personal pleasure to cause so much pain and fear to a defenseless being?

Wow there's actually people here(that posted) That don't realize animals for fur are skinned alive, not to mention caught in barbaric metal traps that cause torture and extreme pain. How about the baby Harp seals that are still beaten over the head with a bat and skinned alive on the spot. I feel sick when I think about these things. It really hurts.Maybe if people would educate themselves and get involved in helping stop this pain. There are plenty of organizations out there. Never buy fur or leather products because you contribute to this torture by doing so. Yeah i seen a video on it, some chinese people were doing it. Disgusting.. and even when the animals skin was all ripped off and they just tossed his pink body into a pile of others, he was still trying to fight.
I watched the PETA documentary on HBO just recently and I never felt so sick and upset in my whole life. There is no reason to why these ';fur farms'; don't kill the animals first just like there is no reason in this day and age to kill an animal for fur at all. What I saw was sadistic and morbid and all together inhuman. There can never be an answer to this question because there is no excuse for it... sad isn't it?
it's horrible. barbaric. but some people get a kick out of causing pain. I dunno. but I don't think quality of fur can't be affected...it's already dead cells.
i feel that same way...i don't even see how people can bring themselves to do a thing like that either. skinning the animal alive doesn't affect the quality of fur at all...if anything, it makes it worse because it causes more bloodshed.
maybe if you threaten to steal people children and skin them alive they will stop doing it to animals.
Where in the world did you get this information? Nobody would do that unless they were torturing the animal. I would go so far to say that even poachers would kill the animal first simple to save themselves the hassle of fighting a live animal.
