I am a redhead, so I have a very fair complexion, but at the same time, it is kind of ruddy. I never wear make-up, I don't go out in the sun for extended periods of time. Right now I am using a scrub by Neutrogena once in a while, but it seems to abrasive to use fequently. Any suggestions? Thank you! What can I do for my skin to make it smoother?
use neutrogena daily scrub followed by mosturiser. the more u mosturise the softer ur skin getsWhat can I do for my skin to make it smoother?
Jergens Shea Butter lotion works the best for me. Use the body scrub maybe like 3 times a week, and then put the lotion. But, always moisturize your entire body as soon as you get out of the shower anyway. It takes time, but your skin will get smoother.
Don't ever use harsh abrasives on your face. A lot of the exfoliating products that use gritty stuff in them such as peach pits, walnut, or avocado seed are actually more damaging to your completion than good for it. For exfoliating I recommend using a mask to lift away the dead skin rather than scrubbing. To maintain a healthy complexion drink a lot of water each day, make sure you are getting a healthy amount of fats in your diet (often people who try to avoid fats end up not getting enough and that is also bad for you). Take a daily vitamin supplement, use a moisturizer every day that is appropriate for your skin type. Once a week invest some time into giving yourself a facial. I have found that Aveda makes some very good products for the face. I also have fair skin and understand how touchy it can be. I recommend using Aveda's sensitive skin line for your face. It's not cheap but the moisturizer lasts a long time. Aveda also makes an Intensive Hydrating Mask that works great for smoothing and softening skin without being greasy or oily. If you decide not to use Aveda I do recommend strongly that you seek out good quality all natural products. In the long run they will be much better for your skin and more effective. Often times products that contain man made chemicals only give immediate results but over time you find that to maintain the results you have to use more and more of the product.
You may need to switch from a physical exfoliant (scrub) to a chemical exfoliant, such as an alpha hydroxy acid or a beta hydroxy acid. You should start with a low percentage level and see how it works for you. For an alpha, you could begin with a 5% and for a beta you could start with a 1%. Beta hydroxy acids are generally recommended for oilier skin. Lactic acid is an alpha hydroxy that has some moisturizing qualities.
Try ';clean and clear'; lotions.....they moisturize...but don't make the skin very oily...so it works!
If your looking for body lotions because your skin is dry, use Nivea or Olay. Be sure to get one that says something about moisture!!!
